Coffin Nail Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 About time I read crime's tweedy great aunt, so which is best to start with? I'd like to start with Miss Marple, not sure I like Poirot. Quote
pickle Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Her first one is Murder at the Vicarige which is a great read, it introduces you really well, I also love Nemesis the 4.50 from Paddington, and Bertrams Hotel. if you like short stories though her very first appearance was in one of The Thirteen Problems Quote
Genevieve Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ah me, I just love Hercule so very much. Of course he is the dandy, but I love his meticulous manner of dress and living. It is a joy to go on adventure with him. I too loved Nemesis, but I think the almost cheesy They Came To Bagdad is my very very favorite by Agatha . I also loved her own story Tell Me How YOu live. Her grandson said this was the happiest time of her life, married to Max Malloran and on those archeological expeditions. It was all so romantic, oui, and I fell in love with the beauty of the places they travelled to. Quote
mtjm Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 And Then There Were None.... was a terrific, intense, short novel. a good one to start with. Quote

noodle Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 It's a long, long time since I've read an Agatha Christie, read a lot of them in my teens, about 50 years ago but I will always remember THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD. It has a very unusual plot twist. You'll have to read it to find out! Quote
emelee Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Poirot is the best IMO. I choose books with him instead of Miss Marple. "...and then there were none" is terrific! "the murder of roger ackroyd" is great too. "murder on the orient express" is also a favorite. Quote
