Ofra Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Hi I am new here, joined today, not sure if I know how to use this forum as yet. I am about to take with me on holidy, V. Seth's A Suitable Boy. Wondering if anyone here read it and would like to write a short review? I read his other book: Equal Music and was very dissapointed, am I alone? Many thanks Ofra Quote
Maureen Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 If I may ask, why are you taking a book by an author, whose other book you have read disappointed you on holiday? Wouldn't it be safer to take a book by an author you really like? Quote
chesilbeach Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I read it when it first came out in 1993, so I can't really write a proper review of it now. I remember that I enjoyed it immensely, and I still have my hardback copy sat on a shelf in my eyeline now, and I regularly think about reading it again, but have too many other new books waiting to be read. I love books set in India, and this one was a great love story, a family saga and a look at politics in the subcontinent, and although a weighty tome, it was such a page turner and I never felt overwhelmed by the length or breadth of the story. vodkafan Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 One of my favourite books Ofra. Nothing like that music one, which I gave up on. Quote
Kidsmum Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I really enjoyed it as well, a great family saga. I've got Equal Music on my TBR pile so would be interested to hear why you didn't like it. Quote
Lucybird Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I really liked An Equal Music but gave up on A Suitable Boy. Quote
