Nollaig Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Am I the only one who really did not like Jim Rennie? Like, I didn't even like to dislike him. I just didn't want to hear about him at all. Quote

mtjm Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 I did not like Jim Rennie either he was a big pain in the butt. I second this notion, bringing to light the fact that no, most of us did not like him. Quote
Nollaig Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Well I know three people who loved disliking the character, or who enjoyed reading his sections, so right now it's actually just equal. Quote
Rawr Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I loved Big Jim Rennie, a little far fetched but King loves the sensationalism when he goes off on one. I didn't like much of the rest of the book, huge fan of his work but this did nothing for me. Interesting premise and could have done so much more, didn't identify with Barbie at all and thought his backstory was a little convenient with the whole Cheney/Bush allegory that's obviously at work. Nollaig Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Well I know nothing about politics so that went totally over my head, probably making the book a bit more enjoyable for me. Quote
Kidsmum Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I didn't really enjoy the book although I will say that the second half was better than the first as it was faster paced & I kept on reading because I wanted to see how it would end. What I disliked about it the most was the way his characters talked some of the dialogue made me cringe. This is the first Stephen King I've read in a long time & although I have read & enjoyed some of his earlier work I don't think I'll be picking any of his books up in the future. Quote
