I have just finished this book.

Somehow despite the subject matter I really enjoyed it.

A bit like Alice Hoffman but maybe because its American.

Don't think I'm giving anything away when I say that the title says pretty much what happens and the story is told from the point of view of an anonymous teenage boy watching the 'virgins'.

Somehow manages to make you smile and is a tale of the end of our society (for 30 somethings!) or the beginning of something new?

I watched the film when I was working at an arthouse cinema a few years back & remember rather enjoying it. i've been meaning to get hold of the book too - I keep seeing it in Fopp & thinking, "I'll get it next time, when i've whittled down my TBR list a little" - LOL! I WILL get it eventually though!

I read this book last year and I loved it. I watched the film first and the book was quite similar which I enjoyed. I have Middlesex on my TBR pile - although I don't know when I'll eventually get round to reading it .

Now read it now , never mind what your reading at the moment throw it in the bin and start on Middlesex

I've also just read this, basically it was profound but utterly narcisstic in a way I can't explain. It is well written-some sentences took my breath away and it's an instant classic but too shallow for me.
