There was a book I read as a kid and would like to find it for my son but cannot remeber the title. It was about two boys who went to visit their grandparents in Germany and everyday their grandfather would tell them a story about a prankster in medievil times who would allways try to con the entire village or a king and narrowly escape a hanging. I think the prankster may have been called Ollie and the cover of the book was mostly brown! I would appreciate if anyone knows what I am talking about

The only one I can think of is Till Uilenspiegel - I don't know about the bit about the boys visiting their grandparents, but there was a prankster called Uilenspiegel (Owlyglass) who sounds like your conman.

No problem Darth. My daughter read this book at school (a few years ago now) but it is still in her bookcase. A lovely story.

Thanks Charm:). I spotted the book in my daughter's bookcase yesterday and read it again last night. It's marvellous fun and the illustrations are just great. Our copy is Michael Rosen's and Franz Wegner's.

Hope you enjoy as much as your boy Darthbuddy:D
