Johnny Carson Whit
Punk fans have been asked to observe a "minute of mayhem" as the funeral of Malcolm McLaren takes place later. The music impresario, manager of the Sex Pistols and fashion guru died of cancer in Switzerland two weeks ago at the age of 64. While the funeral will take place in the early afternoon, friends and fans are being asked to pay their own tribute at 12pm. "In celebration of Malcolm's life we are asking people to observe a minute of mayhem at midday," a statement on a website run by his son Joe Corre reads. "Put on your favourite records and let it rip!" Fans of one of the initiators of punk rock were given details of the funeral cortege so they could also pay their last respects to him. McLaren was diagnosed with mesothelioma in October last year It is a rare form of cancer and is usually linked to exposure to asbestos. Girlfriend Young Kim said she suspected it was linked to Sex, the shop he ran in London's King's Road in the 1970s, as it was the only place he had been in for any length of time. He and his then girlfriend, designer Vivienne Westwood, ran the shop together with McLaren hacking the ceiling out to go with the punk image. Highgate, the cemetery where McLaren is being buried, is the final resting place of many well-known figures including philosopher Karl Marx, author Douglas Adams, physicist Michael Faraday and entertainer Max Wall. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Showbiz-News/Malcolm-McLaren-Funeral-Takes-Place-At-Highgate-Cemetery-After-Sex-Pistols-Manager-Dies-Of-Cancer/Article/201004315612177?lpos=Showbiz_News_First_Home_Article_Teaser_Region_4&lid=ARTICLE_15612177_Malcolm_McLaren:_Funeral_Takes_Place_At_Highgate_Cemetery_After_Sex_Pistols_Manager_Dies_Of_Cancer ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ What song will you listen to, to honour his memory? Kell
Srry - I was listening to Rammstein at midday - I thought loud German metal would be acceptable, as I'm not into punk.
