Peacefield
I think the first single I bought with my own money was the 45 of 'We Are the World' in '85. This fact is a bit embarassing though because seriously, weren't there better singles out to buy that year?! I still have it though, yet haven't thrown it on my turntable in years. Nicola
I think mine was Just A Little Bit by Gina G, all the way back in 1996. Eeeek. Gosh this takes me back Rat Rapping by Roland Rat  I have very vague memories of a rat in a car when I think of this song. The first song I ever owned was Call Me by Blondie. I played the tape over and over (and over) when I was about 7. Technically, I stole it from my Dad's car for about 3 months before he made me give it back It's still one of my favourite songs to this day
Lucybird
I doubt anyone will remember this. I can't remember what the track was but it was by a band called North and South. The first album I think was Robbie Williams Life Through A Lens.
vodkafan
The first 45 single I ever bought with my own money was Blockbuster by the Sweet. First LP Album was The Planet Suite by BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. My musical tastes were eclectic.

corina
I must say it is very disconcerting to read posts on this thread about people's first purchases being albums that were out when I was well into my college years. Sure sign of getting old :) And also embarrassing that their first albums being CD's and not vinyl at all. Mine was "The Wild One" Suzi Quatro on 45. Must have been about 1977. Echo
I don't remember the first cassette I bought for myself, but the first CD I bought was Soundgarden's Superunknown. It's still one of my favorites.
