Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman

Any big fans of this one? I have read it countless times and absolutely love it. I have my students watch the old film version with Lee J. Cobb. A lot of great lines in it that just crack you up, very telling as well.

I love this play, I had to study it as degree level. You have reminded me though that i must re read it at some point

I studied it at A Level. It was one of the more enjoyable texts. I'm not sure I would rush back to read it, but perhaps that's because I studied it rather than watched it.

I like it rather than love it, but whenever I've shown it to students they've always responded well.

 

I think I remember seeing the Dustin Hoffman version of the movie....or I might have dreamt it.

 

It always made me feel melancholy despite the witty dialogue.

David Mamet's Glen Garry Glen Ross strikes me the same way.

I also loved 'Death of a Salesman', however, it has been some time since I read it. I have also read, and really enjoyed 'All My Sons' and 'A View from the Bridge'.

 

In each case the story is so simply told, but so much is going on under the surface of each character. This thread has just reminded me how much I enjoyed Millers plays. It's time I read some more of them!
