Rawr Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I'm reading Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, and I must say it's a beautifully written, mesmerizing sort of book. Bradbury is a great writer.
Nollaig Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Bradbury is a great writer. He's superb! Why did you not tell me about him before you heathen??
Rawr Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 It didn't occur to me, I was probably too busy trying to poke the various books making up the ridiculous pile in my room so that I could choose the next! Sometimes I come across books and authors that have been lurking in the back of my mind I'm not a heathen, I prefer tree hugger! Oh wait, books are made from trees so i'm at a loss as to what to do now
Nollaig Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I'm 130 pages (halfway) into Something Wicked This Way Comes, still absolutely loving it. Must and will buy more Bradbury a.s.a.p. I'll probably have this finished by tomorrow.

Kylie Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Wow Frankie, you're flying through the books. Hug your books? I hugged Flowers for Algernon last night after I finished reading it. I cried. It was brilliant. I'm now reading Cloudstreet by Tim Winton and I have a Trixie Belden book going on the side.
Nollaig Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I hugged Flowers for Algernon last night after I finished reading it. I cried. It was brilliant. I need to read that. I know the story already and saw a movie adapation years ago. What's the author's name? I'll have a look in Waterstones.
Kylie Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Daniel Keyes wrote it. I'm glad you're enjoying Bradbury, Noll. I found Something Wicked... to be strangely scary. It stayed with me for a while after I read it. I can recommend The Blind Assassin for some excellent short stories. Oh, and the classic Fahrenheit 451, if you haven't already read it. I have a stack of others by Ray Bradbury on my TBR pile. I forgot to mention that I got 3 books in the mail yesterday, all by Jack Womack: Ambient Random Acts of Senseless Violence Let's Put the Future Behind Us
BookJumper Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I'm 120 pages into The Eyre Affair and I have to say that so far, I'm not loving it. Shin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I'm 120 pages into The Eyre Affair and I have to say that so far, I'm not loving it. I feel as though it has potential though and am definitely persevering! Oh dear, I have just got this out of the library.
Shin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Well, I am not making any progress on The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold as I am just into 113 pages and I started this days ago. Doesn't help that I have four books out of the library. I got: The Eyre Affair - Jasper Fforde A Faint Cold Fear - Karin Slaughter Indelible - Karin Slaugher The Lost Book of Salem - Katherine Howe
catwoman Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I have done no reading as the been spending time with the OH and kids. But to be honest I have not wanted to read Louis Theroux. Hmm maybe I will start 3rd Degree by James Patterson tomorrow.
lexiepiper Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I finished Karen Rose - Die For Me, was a good read, now will be going on to the second in the trilogy, Scream For Me.
tunn300 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Managed to get a good reading session in before bed yesterday. So in total I read about 160 pages of Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant. A sign of how good the book is is that I said I would stop reading at 11 but it turned out to be 12 before I even noticed.
Cookie Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I started and finished Flirt by L K Hamilton, I know you should judge on quality and not quantity but it was so short! I also read some of Poe's poems.
