scottishbookworm Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Tess's latest title mephisto club is released today http://www.tessgerritsen.com/mephisto/ Quote
Sugar Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 And very good it is, too! It is more in the vein of Vanish with the psychological thriller aspect, than some of the other more graphically violent earlier books, but still manages to get your heart racing, and induce that fear of turning off the light! Michelle Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Grr.. my requested copy hasn't turned up at the library yet! Quote
Sugar Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 That is the joy of having friends in publishing who sneak you proof copies!!! Just had a thought about that though, Michelle. I'll send you a PM in a bit. Quote
boris Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 how long will it take to get to me (london) if i order it now? btw is this real Link ? and how big do you think the print would be here Link it says its large print ? will it be for sure because thats only what it says on the cover? Quote
Michelle Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I changed your links.. those long links break the page. With regards to your first link, they probably don;t have a release date for the paperback yet. With regards to the second, it say 'Publisher: Random House Large Print Publishing' so it should be large print. As for how large, I have no idea..! Quote
boris Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 ook thanks for the link stuff, when do you think it will be out here? are all of you ordering from america ? Quote
Michelle Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 For some strange reason, Amazon isn't selling the 'normal' hardback, just the large print one. You can get it through marketplace traders though.. Link Sugar explained that she has a proof copy.. and I'm waiting for my library to get it in. Quote
boris Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 sorry for sounding dumb but what is a proof copy? Quote
scottishbookworm Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 maybe a proof copy is like as copy for people to look over and see if they like it. I don't know if that's the right answer. Quote
KW Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I've never read any Tess G. Is this the best one? Which would you reccommend, if you were to pick just one? Thanks in advance. Quote

If you wanted to starting Tess the one book that got me hooked was called "Body double" but if you want to try that one go ahead and try it. Quote
KW Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I just saw that one at a used bookstore and almost picked it up. I will now, at your reccommendation. I like to get reccs because ususally you get the pick of the bunch that way. Thanks, Michelle! Quote
Michelle Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 KW, you keep calling everyone Michelle...? personally, Body Double may not be the best, because it's in the middle of a series. I started with The Apprentice, which was good in it's own right, but I then went and got The Surgeon, to start at the beginning. I can't get her official site to load right now, but it shows you the order of those books, plus her other thrillers. Quote
KW Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 You mean everyone ISN't named MICHELLE?LOLOL! Oooops....blonde blunder on my part. Sorry, all! I'll be better. No, I don't have an affinity for the name, either. Just a little loopey over here. Quote

Sugar Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 sorry for sounding dumb but what is a proof copy? A proof copy (also known as an Advanced Reading Copy) is a copy of a book that the publishers produce pre-publication. These copies will be sent out to reviewers, sales people, and other people in the book trade. They are essentially a marketing tool - but are also used as a last edit check - there are often typo's and sometimes words may be slightly different in the finished copy, and occassionally a whole sections of the plot may change! Hope that clears it up - I shouldn't assume everyone knows publishing lingo! Quote
Kell Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I've got several proff copies, one of which is of Good Omens by Pratchett & Gaiman - it's one of my most prized posessions & one of these days I hope to have it signed by both authors! Quote
