We're traditionalists in our house, always lemon juice and a sprinkling of sugar.

Can`t beat lemon and sugar on pancakes I think :D I just finished eating mine.

Salt and vinegar? :D

This has got me wondering ... is salt and vinegar a British thing? I remember getting very strange looks in Australia when I asked for some vinegar to go with the salt on my chips. I know it's a bit off topic, but can anyone tell me if we're unique in our appreciation of salt and vinegar on our potatoes?

I've seen bags of (crisps?) here that are salt and vinegar flavored so I don't think its strictly British. I personally hear the word 'vinegar' in any context and cringe because as kids my parents would put a spoonful in my mouth whenever I was bad. :D To me vinegar is a punishment!

Thanks CaliLily, at least I know it's not just over here then :D I have to admit, I love vinegar on my chips (fries) with just a little bit of salt, and can't eat them without it, so to think that it could be used as a punishment is just strange!

I've never had it on fries, I don't think. I can handle it if its in Pad Thai, but thats all.

They used soap until my brother started liking the taste of it and ate it willingly. They had to get creative then. :D
