kitty Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Just bought two of Martina's books today, one called The Runaway and the other is Maura's Game. The lady on the market stall told me to read The runaway first as Maura's game runs on from it, is this true? Thanks! Quote
Lilywhite Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 from what I remember it does. Great stories too. Hope you enjoy them. Quote

Sugar Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 The products at for example Wal-Mart over here and K-Mart have substantially improved in the last 15 years or so. http://www.walmart.com/ Same difference I expect. Wal-mart bought out our Asda last year, so I think we are merging more and more! (http://www.asda.com) I think once I finish my Evanovich kick, I might have to rad that copy of Two Women that I got free in Woolies a couple of years ago! Quote
scottishbookworm Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 I'm sure some of you are getting her latest title for their christmas? Quote
kitty Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I carnt wait for her new book, just a shame it's hardback. I find hardbacks harder to read plus there more expensive. I have not read any reviews on it yet though. I have just started reading The Jump today and its looking pretty good! Quote
kitty Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Does anybody know if it matters, if I read Broken before The ladykiller? Quote
Lilywhite Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 from what i remember The Ladykiller is a stand alone book so it shouldn't matter. hth Quote
Nici Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I have read all of Martins Cole's books and think they are fantastic! As she tends to publish her new books in the autumn, for the past couple of years my son has got me her new book for Christmas! Great! Quote
scottishbookworm Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 Oh! Thanks for the link. The Woolworth's I remember was smaller scale than that, but it may have been the predesessor to it. They have all evolved more or less along the same track. The products at for example Wal-Mart over here and K-Mart have substantially improved in the last 15 years or so. http://www.walmart.com/ Same difference I expect. your welcome! Quote
KAY Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 you must put "two women" to the top of your pile it is amazing. It's one of my fAVOURITES,incredible twists and turns as always very high drama. Quote

mamatt5 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Oops forgot to say what book thats how much I am in a bind it is Martina Cole close Quote
Lilywhite Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Just browsing (honest) in Waterstones today and noticed Ms Cole has a new book out! It's called The Business and in true Martina Cole style, it looks great. Imelda Dooley is scared. Really scared. She's played hard and fast and now she's been caught. She's pregnant and now she's on her own. Her father, not a man to mess with, will see that somebody pays for this. And it's not going to be her. So Imelda Dooley tells a lie. A lie that literally causes murders. When Mary Dooley's husband is killed in the night's events, she knows she must graft to keep the family afloat. And graft she does, becoming a name in her own right. But she still has to watch her daughter's life spiral into a vicious, hate-fuelled cycle of drugs and prostitution. Caught up in the carnage that is Imelda's existence are Mary's adored grandchildren, Jordanna and Kenny. Pretty little Jordanna isn't yet three and she already knows far too much. All she can do is look after her baby brother, Kenny, and try not to draw unwanted attention to herself. Set in the East End of London from the tail-end of the seventies up until the present-day, THE BUSINESS is a tale of drugs, prostitution and a young girl's fight for survival -- against all the odds.
