Stephanie2008 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 No you're not, but I figured I wouldn't say anything because everyone else likes RATM more Yeah me too, I kept out of it but had to put one post in favour of Joe Love the picture Rawr Quote
Rawr Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I'll post in favour of Joe! He seems like a nice kid who can sing but is just in the wrong place at the wrong time this week Quote
Stephanie2008 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Yeah that is true. It's all Simon Cowell's fault really Quote
ned Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 It looks like he is thinking about Louis in his bowtie Quote
Ruth Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I was pleased that RATM is number one for Christmas. I hated Cowell's sense of entitlement to the Christmas number one, and the fact that for the last few years we have known what the number one will be before we even know who the finalists are, who the winner is or what the song will be. Nothing against Joe of course - good luck to him. I do think the X Factor PR team have done a terrible job though. First Cowell said that the RATM campaign was "bullying' - which seems a bit hypocritical coming from a man who made a name for himself by publicly humiliating and criticising people. Then Cheryl Cole came out saying that she didn't want an American band as the British Christmas number one - forgetting the fact that even if Joe had been number one, The Climb is still an American song. Then Joe himself did a piece where he slagged off the RATM record, which just looked like sour grapes. Cowell offered the two people who started the RATM campaign a job with him. They turned him down:) Quote
Shabby Princess Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) I’m not a huge fan of The X Factor and don’t watch it, but I do think the whole campaign against the winner was a little pathetic to be honest with you. I mean the only reason Rage Against The Machine was at number one was because of an organised campaign to get it there. Looking at the Facebook group for it it seems like a lot of people bought numerous copies of it just to prevent another artist from getting to number one. Doesn’t that just make a mockery of the charts to begin with?! It’s not a true number one! Now I can understand some people not liking the fact that The X Factor winner was almost guaranteed a number one single regardless of who it was without the campaign but I do think taking it as far as some people did was actually quite hateful. But anyway that’s just my opinion. Edited December 28, 2009 by Lilywhite Removed large font Quote
Michelle Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I don't see that there was really much point - I can't say that I heard the RATM song once on the radio, and yet Joe has had lots of airtime. (I'll be hated now, but I don't even think it's a good song! ) Quote
Kimmy619 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I agree with Ruth. Although I dislike the X Factor, I do feel a bit sorry for Joe, he seems to have been caught in the middle of it all. However, he shouldn't have had a pop at RATM. I love RATM, always have done and always will. Quote
Rawr Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Rage as UK christmas number 1 i think it's great It's not my fave song, but it's certainly got the message across. A Miley Cyrus cover doesn't really compare imo. Maybe if he'd done an original song rather than a cover of a disney cash machine (i know it's Cowell's choice, but it's the same principle) people might have been a little more lenient and supportive. Well there's a lot of 'maybe if's' but lets not get started. To win the X Factor, you do need a talented voice, as does Joe, so, if Cowell let him express that voice in a genuine way, it would achieve so much more, rather than rushing out a potential number 1 as soon as he can. Stephanie2008 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Joe got to number one today anyway Well everyone knows it's the New Year Weekend No1 that counts really That's what they were trying to say on my local news Quote
