Just finished Vive La Revolution by Mark Steel. Twas superb. I'm an idiot so I'll probably forget all the history within a week but it has the best jokes about invisble ink and Sting that I've ever heard.

Tomorrow/today I'll probably start Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

Also does anyone get ridiculously excited when they have to choose a new book to read? Apart from the times I'm crippled by indecision I love standing in front of my bookcases and deciding what to read next. Ah. Simple things for simple minds.

Yes! If I stare at my books too long half of them will end up in a pile beside me, so I have to try to make a quick decision otherwise I just get more anxious as I realise how many books I won't be able to start immediately.

I just finished The Plucker and it was pretty awesome. :D

I started On the Jellicoe Road earlier. I've seen great reviews of it, but many indicated that it takes a while to get into, so I'll be sure to go easy on it for a while. It got off to a bit of a confusing start, which doesn't endear me to books. I'd rather not have to read several cryptic chapters wondering what the heck is going on.

I've almost finished I Am The Messenger, which I've enjoyed  and will be starting Jeffery Deaver - The Blue Nowhere next :D

Wow on both occasions! I've been wanting to read I Am the Messenger for ages, I'm definitely waiting for your review on it! And a Jeffery Deaver, good choice! Have you read any Deaver novels before?

Kylie, that was really quick with the Plucker book!

I finished A Spot of Bother last night. Not as good as I'd thought it would be, but all in all I enjoyed it. I started Psycho II right after that and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Edit: Holy heck Kelly you've already written the review as well! You mean business dontcha o_O Off to read it ->>>

It's only around 140 pages long, and there's a lot of artwork so it works out as a pretty quick read. :D Now I'm torn between continuing with Something Fresh or On the Jellicoe Road. I guess I'll keep switching back and forth between them.

Kylie, oh that might explain it

Got quite far last night in Bitten. I plan on reading for about an hour before work this morning. Finishing it before the end of the month just may happen!

I'm particularly glad to hear this, good news! And since you got so far with it I think it's safe to assume that you're also enjoying the read.

I just placed an order for the first Stieg Larsson novel from the library, I blame all you fanatics! I wonder when I'll ever be able to read all the books I'm planning to in the near future :D

Finished 3rd Degree by James Patterson last night, that's the 3rd Patterson in a row i've read. Think i'll lay off him for a while now, i'm getting a bit bored.

I have wanted to read 3rd Degree for a while, as I have only started to read his Ladies Murder Club books recently. Is it good? I might get it for my trip next week.

As for only reading a couple James Pattersons at a time, I do that, I always have a Patterson to read, he churns out so many. Yet I can only seem to read two at a time, or else they all seem the same to me.

Oh mate that is good news! You will not be dissapointed.

I am loving the latest one. They are fab! I have however just read on the official website that there is a fourth. Apparently It is nearly finished and is on his long term partner's laptop and they were writing it together before he died. But because of problems from his family (Even though they were together ffor years, she got nothing because he never did a will) she is not contemplating releasing it not for a while if not indefinately. She does not want the book changed in anyway like the previous ones. Apparently his family changed the name of some of the characters. :D

It is worth a look if you are a fan.

Yeah they do really start to seem the same and you start confucing one book with the other.

I used to adore Patterson and bought, and still buy all of his books. But I stopped reading them for well over a year, so I now have a backlog of Cross and all of his newer ones to read. I do not however read many of his stand alones. I read one a while ago and it really was pretty bad and I got bored so it has kind of put me off them.

I have noticed you read him a lot. Glad to see another fan of his on here. Just ordered 3rd degree. Thanks Ned. Hopefully it will arrive in time.

Hooray! I'm sure you'll love it Frankie. I think you should read it right away after GwtW and Casino Royale and Macbeth. Do you like the way I have arranged your reading list for you for the next month? :)

Apparently his family changed the name of some of the characters.

:D That's weird. I could understand if he had named the characters after his own family or something, but I assume he didn't? I wonder if the 4th will ever get released. I'm so glad you're enjoying the third book. I can't wait to read them both.

You forgot to mention In Cold Blood! And you've arranged my reading list for the next couple of months is more like it

There were like 11 copies of the Dragon Tattoo book in the library (all borrowed of course) so I might be lucky and someone will return their copy this week and you never know I might even be able to finish it before February. That would be ideal!

Mind you, I do seem to have a lot of time on my hands, I've stopped watching telly altogether (I used to watch it quite religiously, now all I watch is the Finnish Biggest Loser version and True Beauty and maybe Frasier on the weekend), the weather's so cold I don't feel like going outside unless I really have to and I've been feeling a bit cold so feel like staying in for that matter as well. This'll be very favourable to the book reading process :)

 I bet you're going to have an awesome couple of months reading.

I've also been watching less TV, as evidenced by the fact my DVR has filled up with a whole lot of unwatched shows. And now that I'm single again I have a lot more reading time on my hands. I'm already well ahead of where I was at this time last year, and that was a record year. :D I'm trying desperately to keep up with my purchases - so far I've read 7 and bought 11 (soon to be 13). Not too bad, I guess.

I tried to find where I saw it (on the Stieg Larsson's website) and if I am right, they changed some of the character's I think some of the 'bad guys' to represent names of people they did not like. I don't think they were the exact names but sounded like them. All I can remember is that there is so much contraversy with the whole issue of his father and brother, that they are the reason the other book has not even been considered being finished. Eva, the OH said that it has the beginning and the end, which has been backed up by one of Larsson's friends whom said that Larsson sent an email before he died saying he planned 10 books and had the beginning and the end of the forth.

It's such a shame when families fight like that. And they were together for so long that you would think Eva would be entitled to something.

I also think it's so sad that Larsson never got to reap the rewards (not just monetary) of his success. And to think that we could have had so many more works to enjoy. :D

I know it is terrible. The only reason (I read on the Q&A part of the website) that Eva has the parts of book 4 is that it is on HER laptop, so there is no way they cold get that off her. She says that in theory she could finish it, as she helped him all the way through and new exactly what he wanted to achieve.

I agree it is so sad. I knew of him before I knew him as an author, as he was a huge human rights activist as you probably know Kylie, and it was that that I originally admired him for, I never realised it was the same man whom I noticed a book that sounded interesting at an airport.

Such a huge loss.

Ooooh good luck!

I wish you many brilliant and inexpensive books.

I second that wish!

During the night I read half of Chinese Cinderella and the Secret Dragon Society. Currently I'm reading In Defence of History by Richard J. Evans
