Michelle Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 My page is more or less for the forum, which has allowed me to contact some authors. I'm not sure if there's anything we can do? Quote
beef Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) anyone with a website could also put this onto their main page: <a href="http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/"> <img src="http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/bcf.gif"></a> </img> which would give an easy and pretty link to be clicked edit: if you want to see a preview of how it will look: http://karoshi.me.uk/ Edited June 12, 2008 by beef Quote
Lilywhite Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I still put little business cards in all my Swaps and books that I sell. I'm not sure how much interest it has generated but every little helps and all. Quote
Talisman Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I will add a link to here next time I do some updates to my own site. Quote

The Library Nook Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I am in the middle of putting together my personal website about my reading and have a section on this forum. Do you mind if I cut and paste what you say on your front page about what your site is about? I have simply said something about how much I love the site and then put in speech marks your bit so it explains what th site is and then explains it in your words! I also cant get the html to work in easily web creator so no funky logo! Quote
The Library Nook Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Brilliant thanks! Got to help spread the word:) Quote

Echo Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I just wanted to let everyone know that I sent out the flier I made last week to my new library system (I moved counties). My old library was happy to display it, so I hope the new one will, too. It would be great to get it displayed in the Tacoma Main Branch, which gets hundreds of visitors every day! Quote

BookJumper Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 On occasion, people over on the Amazon fiction boards will ask whether anyone knows of a good book forum; so far I've kept this place under wraps as I don't really want to have to ban the Netherworld out of all the shameless self-promoters and trolls that infestate the place, however I'm wondering whether I shouldn't be targeting the genuine readers that are there also. Thoughts? Quote
Nollaig Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I've customised the forum banner to match my blog and put it as a picture link as the footer. Quote
CornflowerBlue Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I've requested an add to the facebook page as well. Quote
Kudz Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 There are some great ideas in here about how to go about promoting the forum. I particularly like the idea about putting little stickers or flyers in books being donated or sold and asking local libraries about putting up a flier. What do you think? Quote

I had completely forgotten about this thread but you're right, there are some good ideas. Putting stickers or flyers into books to be donated would undoubtedly attract a few people to the site, but it would mean getting members access to those stickers and flyers - I'd have to work out the practicalities of that. Kudz Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 I don't think we necessarily need to do anything fancy, at least not to start with. Even a post-it note with a little handwritten message, and a link to the forum, hidden somewhere in a book would work! Quote
Anna Faversham Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 I can help with this. Would you like to write out a few words and I'll put post-it notes with the web address in various, suitable places? Quote

Although I think you are the most qualified here to write a few words . Even just the name of the website might be intriguing enough for people to try us out though, what do you think? Quote
