Janet
For all you lovers of costume drama out there (me included!) a new 4 part adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma starts tonight on BBC1 at 9pm. More details here. I've never read the book. I started it a few years ago but wanted to slap Emma! However, having later read and enjoyed Pride and Prejudice I intended to try it again but didn't get round to it! Guess I'll watch this instead! Fi.
I shall be watching this later on iPlayer as I have a date with Kevin McCloud on Channel 4 at the same time I must admit I'm interested to see this adaptation and I love that Blake Ritson is in it as he was great in Mansfield Park. Ruth
Thanks for the reminder - I had forgotten! Off to set Sky+ now, as I don't think hubby fancies watching this much!
honestfi
Saw some of it last night, v good, but thought the actress was modelling herself on the modern remake Clueless. I've never read Emma myself, but I felt like I wanted to smash the manipulative 'b''s head in. Enjoyable though, I'm looking forward to next week. Raven
I've never read Emma myself, but I felt like I wanted to smash the manipulative 'b''s head in. I found that with the Paltrow version. I've also not read Emma, but I thought that was quite good last night.
poppyshake
I don't dislike it .. it's just that it seems to have turned into some sort of 'Lark Rise to Candleford' version of Emma .. it's lost a lot of it's sharp wit. Visually it's beautiful though .. but Mr Knightley!! .. he's supposed to be seventeen years older than Emma!!
