Stephanie2008 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Dave's Syndrome Must not hit 88degrees
Stephanie2008 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The one when they go on holiday is still my favourite episode.
Chrissy Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Wow! May I ask what you all thought of it? I've not yet seen it and not sure whether to bother or not. I wasn't too convinced by the trailer. A film version could not have contained all the depth and nuance of the book, and so I wasn't expecting that. I felt that something was lost in the translation, mainly because the book is so textured and the act of transfering it to screen obviously meant some layers were lost. Clare's passionate side was somewhat muted, and she was depicted as a little too mumsy for my taste, where I had always seen her as a fiery but grounded person. The two main actors were well cast as Jessi rightly says, and the film focused mostly on the love aspects rather than the intricacies of Henry's 'condition', but a choice well made I felt. It's a film about a complex relationship with feelings over action, but I think worth a viewing.
ned Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The one when they go on holiday is still my favourite episode. Oh yeah they spent the whole 2 weeks travelling there and then when they get back a book store has opened next door Simon Pegg was excellent as the manager of that store
Stephanie2008 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Yeah. The photo of Bill Bailey with Simon Pegg's hair is a bit disturbing though
ned Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I loved the episode where Bernard had his suit washed and it turned out to be white lmao
Stephanie2008 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I can't remember that bit. Is that the one where they get that guy in who likes thingws to be dirty
ned Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I think it was the one where Moo Ma and Moo Pa come to stay. Manny's mum does the washing. That cleaning guy was really really creepy.
Stephanie2008 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Ah yeah, I like when they sit under the table in that episode. Man I wish my family meals had an escape hatch like that!
ned Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 would be excellent, with the little bar and everything. I think i will watch a few episodes tonight, you've put me in the mood to watch it

The trailer made it look like a generic rom-com (well, not so much the com), I guess this was in a bid to draw in a wider audience. I'm glad they got the leads right too. I'll watch it soon
Raven Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 That cleaning guy was really really creepy. Filthy!
Ben Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I've just watched season one, episode twenty of Gilmore Girls. Well that's season done and dusted, two starts tomorrow.
Dimitra Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Far From Heaven, it was OK, but not as good as I had read
AbielleRose Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Fell asleep to Employee of the Month last night.
Raven Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Fantastic 4 and Fantasic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Both okay, but nowhere near the top league of super-hero films.
ned Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Max and Paddy's Road To Nowhere "she were a kind of midget" "isn't that a Queen song?"
Nicola Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Do you have it on DVD? I keep seeing it about and meaning to pick it up! Yeah I bought it from HMV as my BF bought the other Season 1&2 so it was my turn It's brilliant. I hope they carry on after the death of Henry VIII to show Edward, Mary and Elizabeth on the throne too
