SweetiiPie85 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) I have just watched the film Bronson. The film is based on a true story and is about Michael Gordon Petersen AKA Charlie Bronson an Anglo-Welsh criminal who is known as the "most violent prisoner in Britain". It should not be confused with a movie about the late, steely-eyed American action hero of the same name. Well, not entirely. This Charles Bronson was named for the Death Wish star by a bare-knuckle fight promoter who thought Bronson's real name, Mickey Peterson, didn't quite conjure up enough menace, panache and star quality to match his violent, theatrical, legend-in-his-own-mind personality. Bronson is memorably impersonated by Tom Hardy. I had never heard of Charles Bronson before until my fiance wanted to watch the film and has been looking forward to seeing it as he has read one of Bronson's books The Good Prison Guide which I am intrigued to read. Bronson has written eleven books which have all been published. Has anyone seen this film or read any of his book? I would be really interested to see what other people think of the crazy Charlie Bronson. Edited July 3, 2009 by SweetiiPie85 Quote
Loopyloo100 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I don't recall reading any of his books but I seem to remember reading the book written by his wife. I think it was called Breaking Free. I seem to recall it made Charles look quite hard done by at times although he is obviously a complex person - good and not so good. He appeared to be quite controlling of his wife at times even though he was locked up and she was free. It was all very strange! Quote
beef Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I have read one of his books that mainly revolved around his years "under the liquid cosh" (sedation in the loony bin) it was..odd. He can be incredibly violent but also artistic, plus he once described himself to a judge as being "as guilty as O.J" Quote
SueK Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Shame he had to take the name of the real Charles Bronson who I really liked (wasn't bothered about the Death Wish films though) and my OH was a dead ringer for him. Quote
