Dead to the World - Charlaine Harris

From Amazon: Dead to the World is the fourth novel in Charlaine Harris's Anthony Award-winning Southern Vampire series. It continues the story of psychic waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who has fallen out with her undead lover, Bill. Bill has no sooner departed for Peru, than Sookie finds the head vampire, Eric, running naked and terrified through the rural night. She helps Eric, and discovers his memory has been destroyed by a coven of unscrupulous, astonishingly powerful witches, newly arrived in her small Louisiana town, and offering a huge reward for Eric. Sookie tries to hide Eric, but her brother sees him--and immediately disappears. And Sookie finds herself caught in a war among witches, vampires, and werewolves.

Wow! I have just read this in one sitting. I really can't get enough of these books. Still not a fan of Bill! It was a little bit of a tear jerker at the end when

Eric got his memory back and didn't know what had happened between him and Sookie

;). I am still holding out hope for them!

Kimmy, I'm so glad you liked Dead To The World - it's my favourite of the entire Sookie series. After seeing you give the previous two book 10/10, I thought you might have to go up to 11 for this one! I'm re-reading it at the moment, as I loved it so much. My favourite is still Sam, although Eric runs a close second, but Bill is way down my list.

You've still got plenty of good stuff to come in the rest of the series, so you don't need to worry about getting your Sookie fix for a little while :motz:

I have the already have the next one, but I have read two books in two days so I am teying to resist starting it tonight!

I can't believe that my opinion about Bill has changed so much!

I absolutely loved this one, it was my total favourite of the series and I'm so glad you liked it ;) My opinion of Bill has totally changed, from the start of the series I adored him but not long after the third book he really began to irritate me.

Ayup Kimmy. I'm on the reading circle for the Grave Sight stuff by Charlaine Harris. You guys seem to really like this author - I was concerned that it might be for young'uns, and wouldn't appeal to me, but Paula seems to think I'll yum them right up. I trust her judgement, so am lookingforward to trying her books out.

Hope this finds you super-well. :motz:

How do. I'm good ta, hope you are good ;) I don't know what it is, but I am finding these books totally addictive. I don't think that they are a literary masterpiece or anything, but I still really love them as I care about the characters.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom

From Play.com:

From the author of the phenomenal number one bestseller TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE, comes this enchanting, beautifully written novel that explores a mystery only heaven can unfold. Eddie is a grizzled war veteran who feels trapped in the toil of his father before him, fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. Then he dies in a tragic accident, trying to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakens in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a lush Garden of Eden, but a place where your earthly life is explained to you by five people who were in it. These people may have been loved ones or distant strangers. Yet each of them changed your path forever. As the story builds to its stunning conclusion, Eddie desperately seeks redemption in the still-unknown last act of his life. Was it a heroic success or a devastating failure? The answer is as magical and inspirational as a glimpse of heaven itself.

I really liked the underlying message of this book which was how you can impact on someone else's life without even knowing it. I enjoyed this book as the concept was interesting and it really leaves the reader with something to think about.

The Confessions of Max Tivoli - Andrew Sean Greer

From Play.com: Max Tivoli is writing the story of his life. He is nearly seventy years old, but he looks as if he is only seven - for Max is ageing backwards. The tragedy of Max's life was to fall in love at seventeen with Alice, a girl his own age - but to her, Max looks like an unappealingly middle-aged man. However when Max reaches the age of thirty-five, with an appearance to match, he has his second chance at love. But tragedy befalls this star-crossed couple, and desperate measures are required.

Another good read! I liked the way that Max and Alice met at various times during their lives, but things bever quite worked out for them which was a bit tragic. I could kind of guess from the start of the book that things wouldn't end well, but I still wanted to read to find out what happens. I did feel a bit sorry from Max's oldest Friend Hughie as he wasn't treated very well!
