How easy is it to grow vegetables in pots?

I want to grow vegetables in pots, we live in a flat and don't have a garden just a small outside space that I am risking putting some pots on. I am off to the garden centre later and wondered whether anyone had some hints and tips for me? So far I have got some cherry tomato seeds and pepper seeds.

I used to have strawberries in pots, that looks nice and tastes good. I bought them as plants though, not seeds.

 

Peas are fairly easy to grow. They would also look nice I think, to put something in the pot for them to cling to would also look nice- at least in my head it does.

I have grown strawberries, snap peas and tomatoes in pots oh and also herbs are really easy!

I've got Basil and Thyme in pots and I've grown strawberries and tomatoes too! It's been fun at times although watering is a must!

I've grown a variety of herbs, fruit and veg. Tomatoes, chilies, lettuce, cut and come again salad leaves, mange tout, courgettes, radishes, spring onions all grow well in pots

Thanks all! I got some actual tomato plants and some herbs but then felt ill at the garden centre so came home. Will try again tomorrow to get some other bits.

Thanks for all the posts. An update! I have decided not to do the seeds because I am worried I will fail so instead I have got;

- tomato plants in a grow bag

- strawberry plants

- herbs

- peppers and chilli peppers

 

and some geraniums!

 

I also got a great book about container gardening that has given me so many ideas my small little pot is growing into a large container garden:)

Oh, but why would you stop? When you absolutely have no more room for any pots, then you have to stop. Only then.
