Ernie Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 The one time of year everyone has a bet. So have you picked the winner? I've narrowed it down to five, 50p each way bets. 1. Battlecry 2. Butlers Cabin 3. Kilbeggan Blade 4. Rambling Minster 5. L'Ami Quote
Kell Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I've got two small each-way bets on: Hear the Echo (I had to choose this one as we've got an Echo on here ) Comply or Die (couldn't resist - it's just such a commanding name - LOL!) Dale has chosen Comply or Die and Kilbeggan Blade. I know he's put a bet on for Xander too, but I can't remember which one her chose for him! Quote
Raven Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Everytime I've taken part in a sweepstake for The National, I've ended up drawing horses that should have been named "Easy Faller" or "Soon to be Glue". Quote
Kimmy619 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I'm going to have a flutter, but haven't picked yet!! I have Mon Mome in the sweepstake at work - fingers crossed. Quote
Heather Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I've got the following on:~ Fundamentalist 150.1 Comply or Die 16.1[what a great name you can picture this in a book...a great title] Quote
Kell Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Comply or Die came second, so I make a little scoop. Quote
Ceinwenn Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Our horse came third. The kicker is that at the last minute I decided to not place a bet on Mon Mome! I'd been thinking of betting on him because I love the name Liam & that's the name of the jockey who rode him. Oh well! Guess I should follow my inclinations, lol. Quote
Lilywhite Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 My hunch fell at the 19th fench but O's backed My Will and we put the last couple of quid on Comply or Die. Money back at least on those. Quote
Heather Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I had Comply or Dye on Hubby had Mon Mome on so we each get a few quid. Quote
Stephanie2008 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Hear the Echo had to be put down . My bet was on Butler's Cabin. Quote
Ceinwenn Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I don't think many jockeys are owners of the horses they race. Not even the trainers often own the horses they train. On a jaded note, I am sure that the owners will be well compensated by their insurance company, but it is sad that horses do die as a result of this race. Quote
Lilywhite Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 It did kind of kill off any enjoyment I got from the race. Although the toll has been less and less over the ladt few years. Still a shame though. Quote
madcow Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I quite like watching horse racing but the Grand National is the one race I can't watch, I hate it when they fall This is the first year that I haven't had a little flutter, I forgot oops. Quote
Ernie Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 I'm going to have a flutter, but haven't picked yet!! I have Mon Mome in the sweepstake at work - fingers crossed. Well done in the sweepstake, I hope you put a pound on it at the bookmakers too. Quote
BookBee8 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 My bet was on Musica Bella... :eek2: Yes, I know, I'm obsessed with Twilight, k? Quote
Fay Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 For the second year in a row I backed the winner! We have a little bet each in our house and I won 25 Euros!! Quote
