Raven
Anyone watching this year? Very pleased that Glynn Purnell took the honours over Daniel Clifford, who to my mind has been a complete arse all week!
~Andrea~
I caught a snippet of it today. I usually love things like this but normally don't realise when they are on. It's for homecoming troops this year right?
Raven
Yes, they are supposed to be cooking a menu that is both indicative of their own area, and that will also remind the soldiers the meal is for of "A Taste of Home." To be fair, I think Clifford actual put together the better menu, but it just didn't follow the above brief - very little about it said "A Taste of Home", well, to me anyway. Purnell's cooking was a bit hit and miss, but he did two exceptional dishes and stuck to the brief, which is why he won.
~Andrea~
I only caught about half of the dessert bit. I thought the dessert from the guy that lost looked great and the other one looked like a mess on an old slab. (Like someone who'd left stuff out that needed tidying away.) Although I'm sure it tasted wonderful. (And probably fitted the taste of home thing quite well too) I'll have to try and catch more of it next week. Raven
This week is a bit different, the two chiefs are actually being nice to each other and helping each other out. I'm not hugely taken with either of the two menus so far, although Tom Kitchin's kedgeree looked very nice yesterday!
Raven
Yes! For the second week running the judges have sent the smug git packing!
poppyshake
Yes it's been quite satisfying seeing the 'nelly-know-it-alls' go home. They would never be voted for by the public anyway, so they might as well go now.
Christie
Yes I am an avid fan of this show! I've watched it since the very first series! I found that the judges have been very picky this year and no dish that I know of has actually passed the judges without a bad remark. I'm always stumped by them when they say there is not enough love and passion put into this dish...but how can a chef put that across in a plate of food? Enough about the bad stuff though! I just hope this year that a chef from Wales gets a dish through none have prevailed so far!
