Boo.. it's way funnier w/out the elaboration. In my head, you're still sitting alone in the middle of some trees in a forest, waiting for the call from Deaver to you to come pick him up. There.. I like it better that way. ;)

This is exactly the image I had too! ;)

You see? .. I don't really think you're a stalker of course :icon_eek:

We can also do a little pubtour or go clubbing if you prefer dancing to talking and smoking. The local rock festival Ilosaarirock is on 18-19 July and I am sure I'd be able to get you a ticket for that. I can't afford one myself but don't worry I can wait for you outside in the near small forest where I usually hang out with my friends. I'll come and pick you up afterwards.

Frankie!!! I have tears of laughter rolling down my face!!

You're too funny!! :icon_eek::lol:;)

The Guardian newspaper have a feature where they get an author to pick their top 10 books on a particular subject (usually related to that authors latest book in some way), and I noticed today that the current top 10 is from Jeffrey Deaver, and knowing there are many fans over here, thought I'd let you know about, it in case anyone's interested.

His top 10 is based on novels featuring computers or the internet - click here

Thanks for that chesilbeach. I've never read any of them but it was interesting to see what Mr Deaver likes. I loved the way he described his novels as a rollercoaster, perfect description! :icon_eek:

Jeffrey Deaver - Former Folk Singer!!!!!

I haven't read any of those books either but it's good to know what he likes. It's also very true that you think that these crimes could happen to anyone, including yourself. After reading The Blue Nowhere I was very paranoid about using facebook etc. Not good

The only one on that list that I have read is Enigma - which I loved. I'm currently reading one of his books called Mistress of Justice - have any of you read it? It's really good & I thought it was interesting that there was an Author's note in the front of the book, talking about the fact that he hadn't been satisfied with the original published version of this particular novel, so 13 years later he ripped it to shreads & re-wrote it. I'd love to get my hands on one of the original publications to see how it differs from the "same" story he re-published 13 years later. I wonder how many other authors do that? Publish a book, not be really happy about it, so re-write it & re-publish it.

It must really nag at them especially as they become more experienced.

I've just started The Stone Monkey in my quest to finish the Lincoln Rhyme series ;)

I'm so jealous Nicola!! I wanna read Deaver too.... The why don't I? I felt like I need to get some library books read as well so I can take them back and focus on my own books... There's nothing better like a good Deaver thriller on a summer's night!

I've missed him! Haa! But it's nice to take a break and know that you have something really good to get into a few books down the line ;) He never lets you down does he.....the books really are rollercoasters!

I think I've left Jeffrey on the bus! Well.....The Stone Monkey anyway. It was so so so good too and came all the way from a tiny second hand book shop in Whitby.

How can a person lose a book they're actually in the middle of? ;)

Oh no! That's terrible! I'm not surprised your crying, I'd be bawling my eyes out! :D

I started The Stone Monkey last week and only managed a couple of chapters, just didn't grab me, but I may give it another go if you say it was as good as Jeffrey usually is ... well how far you got anyway ;)

I'm going to have a super house-hunt at the weekend and fingers crossed it turns up.....positive thing and all that :D

Yeah I was starting to get into it but I don't think it was up to his usual standard. I think it'll be one of those books that grabs you after a good few chapters, like the Empty Chair which I wasn't to keen on at first but it was a real grower. Let me know if you ever coninue with it ;)

I felt the same about The Empty Chair but ended up loving it! Some of his books can be a bit like that but always turn out great. I will persevere though, I want to get through all the Lincoln Rhyme books ;)

I noticed a Jeffery Deaver book today in the charity shop for 50p called the Devil's Teardrop. I bought it as I read this thread and all the good comments. Is this one of his better books? Also is it in a series and should I wait until i get the others?

Thanks

CW.

I've read quite a few Deaver books but unfortunately not that one! :) I don't think it's part of a series though, it appears to be a stand alone novel so you should be fine to go right ahead.

His series novels are:

The Rune Series:

Manhattan is My Beat (1988)

Death of a Blue Movie Star (1990)

Hard News (1991)

The John Pellam Series:

Shallow Graves (1992)

Bloody River Blues (1993)

Hell's Kitchen (2001)

The Lincoln Rhyme Series:

The Bone Collector (1997)

The Coffin Dancer (1998)

The Empty Chair (2000)

The Stone Monkey (2002)

The Vanished Man (2003)

The Twelfth Card (2005)

The Cold Moon (2006)

The Broken Window (2008)

The Kathryn Dance Series:

The Cold Moon (2006)

Charm! Wow thank you, that's a lot of groundwork. Bow to the master!

Catwoman, I'd definitely recommend you read some of Deaver's books, he's brilliant :)
