Michelle Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Has anyone else discovered this? My mum emailed it about it, after her colleague's son got a job with them. Anyway, you download a small player, and then you can stream songs onto it. There's a free version, which is supported by ads (the strange thing is, if I use it on my desktop, I get some ads, but on my laptop they are none!), or a paid for version. Beth had great fun this afternoon listening to Miley Cyrus, and I've been reminiscing to some songs from my past! http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/41948 http://www.spotify.com/en/ Quote
Michelle Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Yes, it is legal (I wouldn't post about it if it wasn't!) - I think they hope to make their money from both the ads, and the people who pay for the passes. I'm using at the moment, and I have to say, the selection so far is great.. Quote
Weave Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Sounds great Michelle, many thanks for the links Quote
Lucybird Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 My Dad has it and I was thinking of asking for a referal (otherwise you have to go on a waiting list I believe?) but he says it takes up quite a lot of space and my computer is already slow Quote
Lucybird Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 really, maybe they changed it. I know when my Dad signed up you had to be refered Quote
Michelle Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Yep, the referral thing has changed. My laptop isn't the fastest in the world, and I haven't noticed any problems. I did find that on my ancient desktop, the internet was slow, but that didn't surprise me. Quote
Ben Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Perfect addition to your macbook Michelle. Thanks for the links. Quote
Michelle Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 'Netbook' Ben, not a Macbook.. But yes, last night I was sitting there with my headphones on, listening to all sorts of songs. Quote
Lucybird Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Yep, the referral thing has changed. My laptop isn't the fastest in the world, and I haven't noticed any problems. I did find that on my ancient desktop, the internet was slow, but that didn't surprise me. hmm maybe I will download it then...I can always delete it again if it really slows me down Quote
Michelle Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 The problem with my desktop is no matter how good the internet connection, it only manages speeds of up to 2mg. So, when something is streaming, it uses up a lot of that speed. As I say though, the laptop coped just fine, and that's not particularly powerful. Quote
Lucybird Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I downloaded it now, and haven't noticed any difference yet at least Quote
