karlk Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Hello, im karl and like all on here i enjoy a good read. I have read for many years but mainly reference material for work and studies. started reading non fiction novels about 3 years ago and i am well and truly hooked. I enjoy historical fiction (my favourite) thriller, murder/ mystery, war and romance. Dont have a paticular favoured author as yet but i realy enjoyed all Dan Browns / David Gibbins / Val McDermid / Matthew Reilly / Mo Hayder, I do like a broard span of books. I usually get through a novel a week and read 4/5 evenings a week, sometimes 4/5 hour sessions. When reading historical fiction i get the jist of the book and then do research on the internet to get more understanding of what im reading, it realy does make the book more enjoyable/ understandable. I find some authors like David gibbins can be very specific and technical when conspiring historical fact with a thrilling adventure, dates and periods in time can be hard work. think thats enough about me for now so hi to all and look forward to being part of what looks like a very enjoyable forum. cheers karl Quote
bethany725 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Hi Karl and Welcome!! Curious if you've read "Pillars of the Earth," since it's supposed to be a historical fiction. My husband is about to start reading and we've been looking up info on the threads here to get an idea what he can expect. Have you read it? Quote
