frankie Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Kylie, I just read somewhere that you've got Tom Wolfe's The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test on your TBR as do I and I just couldn't resist going to Goodreads and do a compare on our books. The results say that "You and Kylie have 217 books (or 22.12% of your library and 21.03% of her library) in common. Your tastes for those 217 ratings are 94% similar". In a way it's quite surprising to have so many books in common but then again it's not, what with us having the same Rory list and 1001 Books agenda. But the taste percentage is unbelievable Quote
Kylie Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 I have a gorgeous copy illustrated by Quentin Blake. If I were rich I'd buy you a copy and send it over! Aww, thanks for the thought! The bookstore I was in last night had a rack of the Quentin Blake illustrated version near the counter. I was very tempted!! We have great taste in books, don't we? Quote
Kylie Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 I was going to do some brief reviews of the books I've been reading since my last post, but I've just counted them and there are 19! I can't believe how much I've been reading this year, although there has been an awful lots of young adult books and light reads. I'm starting on The Silver Chair by CS Lewis today. I think I'll have 3 more to go in the Narnia series after this. Quote

Kylie Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) I'm a bit lazy so I haven't closed off my 2009 thread yet. I thought I'd just wrap it up with a quick summary of my reading: Most of my challenges fell by the way-side as I chose instead to knock as many books of my TBR pile as I could. I had a goal to read 52 books and I managed 87 (3 of those were re-reads), which would be great if I hadn't bought another 290 books during the same period! I think I may have failed at my attempt to 'read 3, buy 1'. I discovered some brilliant authors, such as John Connolly, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jeffrey Eugenides, Norton Juster, Walter Moers, Haruki Murakami and Chuck Palahniuk. I read only a few disappointing books and found some brilliant ones. Overall, another very pleasing reading year. I'm already experiencing a great start to 2010, so what are you still doing reading this thread? Get with the times and go and read Kylie's Literary Adventures in 2010!
