scottishbookworm
How To Lose Friends and Alienate People Synopsis This title is now a major motion picture releasing Autumn 2008 and starring Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst, and Jeff Bridges.High-flying British journalist Toby Young set out for New York to become a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. Other Brits had taken Manhattan, why not Toby? But things didn't quite go according to plan. Within two years he'd been fired from Vanity Fair, banned from the most fashionable bar in the city, and couldn't get a date for love or money. Even the local AA group wanted nothing to do with him."How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" is Toby's best-selling and critically acclaimed memoir of steadily working his way down the New York food chain from glossy magazine editor to crash-test dummy for interactive sex toys. A seditious attack on New York's A-list and the culture of celebrity from inside the belly of the beast, it's a book USA Today calls a "nastily funny read."This hilarious memoir is being released in this special movie tie-in edition to coincide with the release of a major movie of "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People". Raven
I've not read the spoilery bit's above, but I'm looking to read a copy of this myself before I see the film (although I'm told the film doesn't follow the book that closely).
scottishbookworm
thanks raven for letting me know!
donatello
I do not need to learn this from book or film. I can only watch the actions of my brother-in-law and learn everything there is to know on the subject. I am certain that he suffers from Aspberger's. twinkle
It took me a couple of attempts to get into the book. Once I was a couple of chapters in I couldn't put it down. I loved it!
Michelle
I've not read the spoilery bit's above, but I'm looking to read a copy of this myself before I see the film (although I'm told the film doesn't follow the book that closely). It's not actually a spoiler, just the synopsis.
Kell
I've removed the spoiler tags as there's no need for tham, it being a readily available synopsis. Scottishbookworm - perhaps you'd like to add your own personal thoughts on the book rather than just leaving the synopsis?

Ruth
I bought the book purely on the basis that Jeff Bridges, who is my all time favourite actor, is in the movie!
Raven
I bought the book purely on the basis that Jeff Bridges, who is my all time favourite actor, is in the movie! He had no hair in Iron Man, it took me half the film to work out who he was . . .
Anika
This book sounds funny. I might read this one before "The Sound of No Hands Clapping", which also looks tempting. Just goes to show you can be a Loser and still be successful, heh?
