Frankie, you are in for a treat with Kathy Reichs' books :)

I know! :D

Since my last post I've read:

Kathy Reichs: Death Du Jour. I think this was so much better than Deja Dead (even though I liked that one too). I read it in Finnish so it was a faster read. The medical and forensic terms were giving me a hard time in Deja Dead so I made the wise choice to read Reichs in Finnish in the future :) I am quite eager to start Deadly Decisions next but I'm also really keen on Twilight. Hmph.

Stephen King: Lisey's Story. This book took off really slowly but I knew that beforehand so was able to just enjoy the ride. Like in most of King's novels the characters and their history was detailed and rich which I like. Still, the main character managed to remain quite distant to me and she never grew on me. Her sister Amanda was far more interesting and human. I think this was an interesting read but not one of my favorite King books.

Cormac McCarthy: No Country for Old Men. A bit too bloody for me.

I finished Twilight today. I had such high expectations with this one and that may have affected on my reading. For the first half of the book I wasn't convinced at all: I didn't find the characters believable (I was annoyed by Edward's constant moodswings) and the dialogue was really embarrasing and awkward. I was really glad that I hadn't been able to order the next novel from play.com.

After the baseball game things picked up really quickly and I was engrossed by the plot. I even started to like some of the characters. I'll definitely have to read New Moon now and see how things go with B&E.

After the last post I've read the following books:

- Stephenie Meyer: New Moon 9/10

- D. H. Lawrence: Lady Chatterley's Lover 5/10

- Philip Roth: Portnoy's Complaint 7/10

- Gaetan Soucy: The Girl Who Was Too Fond of Matches 8/10

- Diana Wynne Jones: Fire and Hemlock 10/10

- Sarah Dunant: Birth Marks 9/10

- Terry Pratchett: Johnny and the Dead 9/10

- Kathy Reichs: Deadly Decisions 8/10

So I guess that's it for the year 2008. It was a very, very good year. Here's what I thought of 2008 readingwise (from the thread in generel discussion on books):

"This year was superb for me!

- I joined this forum (which increased my TBR)

- I've found play.com

These books stood out for me this year:

- Alain de Botton: How Proust Can Change Your Life

- Tuula-Liina Varis: Kilpikonna ja olkimarsalkka

- Ronald Hayman: The Death and Life of Sylvia Plath

- Joanne Harris: Gentlemen and Players

- Diane Setterfield: The Thirteenth Tale

- Sarah Waters: Fingersmith

- Augusten Burroughs: Dry

- Markus Zusak: The Book Thief

- Augusten Burroughs: A Wolf at the Table

- Mark Haddon: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

-John Grogan: Marley and Me

- Stephenie Meyer's Twilight-series

- Sarah Dunant (Hannah Wolfe -series)

Writers I discovered:

- Elizabeth Flock

- Sarah Waters

- Terry Pratchett

- Neil Gaiman

- Kathy Reichs

Plus, I spent some good times with Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole diaries which I hadn't read in ages."

Finally the statistics:

- books read: 78

- books bought: at least 116 (wow, I never knew I bought so many... things definitely got out of control this year.
