Purple Princess
Has anyone read any books by Chris Cleave? My sister and I have both read Incendiary and it quickly became her favourite book, so as it was her 21st birthday this week I dropped him an email to ask about personal book signings.... I really couldn't believe it when he replied to my email! I had asked him if I could post him a copy of Incendiary down to London or a cheque for a new book and postage costs etc, but he replied saying that he had a spare first edition lying around and that he would sign it for her with a birthday message and post it to me for free. All he asked was that I bought my sister a 21st birthday drink on him!! I had left it a bit late as it was her birthday in a few days so he sent it to me special delivery so that it came on her birthday - and not only that but he also included a copy of his new book, The Other Hand, signed for me and saying congrats on being such a great sister and that he hopes I enjoy his new book. I just thought I would let everyone know what a nice man he is (I didn't even expect a reply really) as we are both really happy with our new books! ~Andrea~
Wow. What a great response. You both must have been really chuffed. What was your sister's reaction?
Colin Jacobs
Just think if you had asked JK Rowling. Most authors are very kind. I went to a Pratchett signing once and had copied one of his book covers and printed it on my T shirt. He said "Thats not a legal design" "No" i said I copied one of your book covers and printed it on my T shirt. it will never be worth anything. He reached over and signed it and said "it is now!" Purple Princess
Wow. What a great response. You both must have been really chuffed. What was your sister's reaction? She was so happy that she started crying, so I took that to mean she liked it alot!
Ruth
What a terrific story - I have Incendiary on my tbr pile, and you have reminded me about it. Will endeavour to read it by the end of the year!
Louiseog
Just finished the Other Hand, cannot recommend it too highly, don't want to say too much as there is no blurb but again a really hard hitting story with much to say about our world.
