robson65
Hello, Has anyone read 'The world is what it is : the authorized biography of V.S. Naipaul' by Patrick French. I read it at breakneck speed mainly because I couldn't believe what I was reading ! I wanted to kill Naipaul by the end !! Its put me off ever reading any of his books. Janet
I've not read this book but I did read Naipaul's In A Free State which made up of four separate stories. I enjoyed the three shorter ones, but the main story was a bit dull, I thought, so I'd be unlikely to read any more books by him - or anything about him! robson65
He certainly came over as one. He read the book before it was published and didn't change anything. He either doesn't care what people think of him or he thinks his attitude and behaviour are perfectly acceptable. I just felt so sorry for his poor wife.
