I used to read a lot of them (this is quite a few years ago now), but I got bored with them - I thought they got to be quite same-y. I used to really enjoy them though.

Like a few of people on here, I used to read a lot of Richard Laymon but gave up because they are all a bit samey. Also, I started to find the excessive gore and violence a bit disturbing. Not because it scared me (although Endless Night scared the  out of me and is the reason I sometimes wake up in the night thinking I've heard a noise and am scared witless that someone is going to break in and murder me and my family!) but more because I was disturbed by the fact that I was reading that sort of thing for pleasure. Does that make sense?

Having said that, there is no denying that his books are good easy to read horror. If you like your horror especially gory with lots of sex then you will love him!

A few of his books I did really enjoy are:

Blood Games - one of my favourite horror books

Flesh

Resurrection Dreams - its a bit twisted but I enjoyed it :)

The Travelling Vampire Show - I remember being quite surprised at the end

All of The Beast House books are good (I think there's 3 but I can't remember what they're all called)

Are there any fans of the late splatterpunk writer Richard Laymon on this board.

I enjoy his work immensely and always have a good time when I read any of his novels.

I have always felt he was an overlooked and underappreciated horror writer.

I am alone here?
