Michelle Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I enjoyed Chasm by Laws.. and the one where they're trapped in the walls....? Long time ago though. Quote
Owen Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Oh. I had forgotten Chasm. Another very good book, on a similar vein as anyone read Odd thomas by Dean Koontz? Quote
Michelle Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Yep, but we're going off topic a bit now! Owen Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 My bad, sorry, Laymon is good for a no brainer book. Quote
kmce Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 sorry my fault it was funhouse by dean koontz i was wanting to know about lol, any one read that Quote
Owen Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I have read nearly all of Koontz' books, enjoyed most of them. Funhouse is all right, its got some tense parts but overall a bit of a let down. Give it a go and let us know what you think. Quote

Kell Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I used to read a lot of them (this is quite a few years ago now), but I got bored with them - I thought they got to be quite same-y. I used to really enjoy them though. Quote
Michelle Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 I've merged 3 similar threads, and gotten rid of some extra posts. Quote
Kell Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 You beat me to it - I was just coming back to do that now that I've finished lunch. I guess great minds think alike. Quote
Nollaig Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I like the sound of this guy.... I think I'll give him a go if I see one of his books. Quote
Book Fiend Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Like a few of people on here, I used to read a lot of Richard Laymon but gave up because they are all a bit samey. Also, I started to find the excessive gore and violence a bit disturbing. Not because it scared me (although Endless Night scared the out of me and is the reason I sometimes wake up in the night thinking I've heard a noise and am scared witless that someone is going to break in and murder me and my family!) but more because I was disturbed by the fact that I was reading that sort of thing for pleasure. Does that make sense? Having said that, there is no denying that his books are good easy to read horror. If you like your horror especially gory with lots of sex then you will love him! A few of his books I did really enjoy are: Blood Games - one of my favourite horror books Flesh Resurrection Dreams - its a bit twisted but I enjoyed it The Travelling Vampire Show - I remember being quite surprised at the end All of The Beast House books are good (I think there's 3 but I can't remember what they're all called) Quote
Endless Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) Are there any fans of the late splatterpunk writer Richard Laymon on this board. I enjoy his work immensely and always have a good time when I read any of his novels. I have always felt he was an overlooked and underappreciated horror writer. I am alone here? Weave Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I have only read one book by Richard Laymon it was called 'Bite', I enjoyed it and always meant to read more of his books, I will definitely be checking them out Quote
