Somerset Maugham - ***** (I don't believe that I have ever read a book that is so beautifully descriptive. It boggles my mind to think that a person can not only write a story so deep but also makes you believe that the person that is being written about was truly a genius but at the same time a person that it was easy to dislike at many places in the story). This is my second book of W. Somerset Maugham that I have read and I really, really like his works. 1 Quote

I know it had a big impact on me when I read it long ago, but apart from remembering it was loosely based on Paul Gaugin's life in Tahiti, the rest has been lost in the mists of time 😁 1 Quote

I can't think why I don't read more Maugham, his books don't shout out "read me" but when I do I love whatever it is. 1 Quote
