lunababymoonchild Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I’m opening voting for the second group read. As I recall, we had ‘time’ nominated from part one, to possibly carry over, and ‘discovery’ is a new nomination for part two. Any other nominations? 1 Quote

Hayley Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Yay! Do either of you have an idea of what you want to read yet? I’m counting my current read (Dallergut Dream Department Store) as part of the challenge because, although I didn’t realise it when I started reading, the plot is based around the legend of a time god. The time god divides time between his three apprentices - one chooses the past (and starts to dwell so much in the losses of the past that they become incredibly sad and hide themselves away), one chooses the future (and forgets the important people and things of the past, losing their sense of purpose). The third one lets the present belong to everyone but wants the time spent sleeping, which is how they come to be in charge of dreams. Dreams remind people of happy memories and let them envision the future, so they solve the issues of the other disciples. It’s an interesting way of seeing the time we dream as something that’s essentially outside of normal time. I do have an anthology of time travel short stories, which I might go for next! Quote
lunababymoonchild Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 I read The Time Machine, H G Wells in January, in anticipation - I don't regret that it's a great book! I haven’t decided, yet, what else to read. Dallergut Dream Department Store, sounds good though so I'll have a look at that, and definitely would count as a read. 1 Quote
lunababymoonchild Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 Further to this, having a quick look I have : A Brief History of Time Stephen Hawking, Swann’s Way Marcel Proust, The Oldest Living Vampire (spans thousands of years, apparently) Joseph Duncan, Time's Convert Deborah Harkness, A Yankee in the Court of King Arthur Mark Twain. So plenty to choose from, for me. 1 Quote

Madeleine Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I'm not sure what my choice will be, I'm actually waiting for a book which covers dual time frames to come out in pb, but I'm not sure when it's due out, so I might have to choose something else. Quote
lunababymoonchild Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 I propose my current read of Julius, Daphne du Maurier, which is the life story of the fictional character Julius. Since the book starts with his birth and ends with his death I think it might fit Quote
