Books for non-native english speaker

Hi everyone!! I'm looking for book recommendations. I'm not a native English speaker. I want to improve my English skills, so I've come up with an idea to start reading in English, since I'm a book lover. However I have no idea where to start. I usually read romance and fantasy books, but I'm open to anything.

Which book should I read first? What are the best English language books that you can recommend to non-native English speakers?

Not sure if you've read them but a lot of people start with the Harry Potter books.

If you like Harry Potter, the Septimus Heap books by Angie Sage are excellent too! The first one is called Magyk.
 

I personally love Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books. You don’t have to read them in order and I’d recommend starting with The Wee Free Men  .

Nothing by Janne Teller. It's classed as YA (so the writing style is very easy to read) but explores dark, interesting themes.
