Whaaaat?! A non-Discworld book? Terry, just concentrate on Discworld please! I did like The Carpet People, but Discworld is much better.

There's a book coming out this year that I was very fortunate to read a draft of (long story, but my sister's quite well connected!!). It's called Sewerside Chronicles by Tim Lay and is going to be a cult classic.

Well, the ones I've read are:

- Flesh House by Stuart MacBride (Logan McRae series)

- Centurion by Simon Scarrow (Romans series)

- Nation by Terry Pratchett (I believe it's a non-Discworld book!)

- Personal Demon by Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Other World series)

The were all excellent!

I'm hoping to get the others in my Xmas haul:

- The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory (Mary Queen of Scots!)

- The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong (new supernatural series)

- Living with the Dead by Kelley Armstrong (WotOW series)

- The Great Grease-Tailed Shaven Pig Hunt by Christopher Brookmyre (Jack Parlabane series, now retitled A Snowball in Hell)

- The Folklore of the Discworld by Terry Pratchett and Jacqueline Simpson

- Fire and Sword by Simon Scarrow (Napoleonic Wars #3)

Books I'm looking forward to in 2009 are:

February:

- Men of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong (collection of short stories originally published online and told from the male characters' points of view)

April:

- Made to be Broken by Kelley Armstrong (Nadia Stafford series)

May:

- Blind Eye by Stuart Macbride (Logan McRae series)

August:

- Untitled Roman Army novel by Simon Scarrow

- Untitled novel by Christopher Brookmyre

- The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong (Chloe Saunders series)

September:

- The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

November:

- Frostbitten by Kelley Armstrong

Whaaaat?! A non-Discworld book? Terry, just concentrate on Discworld please! I did like The Carpet People, but Discworld is much better.

I just recently finished Nation and although completely differnt from the Discworld novels, it's every bit as good!

The books that will be published in 2009 and in which I'm interested are the sequel to The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and the paperback version of The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.
