Hey everyone
I’m Cath, and I’ve read since I was able to read, basically. I also write myself as well, predominantly poems and short stories.

I think that was my introduction :D

@Madeleine

I'm obsessed with George R.R. Martin and the song of ice and fire, but I also really like Jojo Moyes and every single one of her books almost equally. Recently I kind of discovered Stephen King, though I never thought I'd like this genre, but it seems like I get a little addicted to his books as well

Which of his books have you liked? I also didn't think I'd like Stephen King, until I read The Green Mile and loved it, but I've ended up never finishing a couple of others I've tried.

Hello Cath and welcome to the board.

Stephen King is a complicated author. Nowadays he doesn't just write horror he also writes science fiction and American hard boiled fiction. So it depends on the book. The early fiction was all horror, the more recent can be anything. I love everthing he writes but must be careful with the horror - apparently it affects my behaviour!

Hi!
I've read The Long Walk, which I liked really much, but I loved The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon even more. Currently I read Carrie, after a little obsession with the musical, and think I probably like this the most so far.

@lunababymoonchild

Hey
I had some concerns about the horror as well, but I think if I'd like any horror book some day, it would be one of his. So I'm a bit excited about the many books of his that I'm waiting to read

Hi Cath, I enjoyed Song of Ice and Fire too, apart from the 5th book, which could have been a lot shorter!

I’ve never even heard of that one before, adding it to my ‘to-read’ list now!

Really intrigued by this statement! Does reading horror make you very anxious?

No, my brother suggested I stop reading as he said it was affecting my behaviour. He didn't say how. At the time my brother was buying the new King novel for me for my Christmas every year. Stephen King was the only author my mother wouldn't read so I could put the book down in the living room and she wouldn't steal it!
