Louiseog Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Nearly finished The Baby Club. Have been so tired that I have not been able to keep awake! I listened to this last year, what do you think? Quote
Angel Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 I've now finished it Louise and I quite enjoyed it. It reminded me of how tough those few months are - it's easy to forget how it is isn't it? Did you enjoy it Louise? Now well into Karin Slaughter - Faithless Quote
Louiseog Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 I've now finished it Louise and I quite enjoyed it. It reminded me of how tough those few months are - it's easy to forget how it is isn't it? Did you enjoy it Louise? The book was OK, for the first time ever I could not get on with the narrator's voice! Hated the first few months of babies though! Went back to work when littley was ten weeks old ! Now well into Karin Slaughter - Faithless I like this series, have you tried PJ Tracy they're good too Quote
Angel Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 No I haven't tried them yet - are they similar? Quote
Angel Posted January 7, 2008 Author Posted January 7, 2008 Finished Faithless - a very good read Now moving onto a new author for me - Mark Gimenez- The Abduction Quote
Angel Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 Moved onto The Scandal of the Season by Sophie Gee Quote
Angel Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Moving onto Rowan Coleman - After Ever After. A light read, no thinking or reflecting Quote
Louiseog Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Lilac cover? I often default to pastel coloured books when I feel the need for that (which is often) Quote
Angel Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Surprisingly no this time !! I know what you mean though - I often reach for those type books in times like these. After recent events and losing the cat at the weekend, I can't cope with sad storylines at the moment - they would definately set me off. So, nice light reading Quote
Louiseog Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Cozy mysteries do that for me as well although they are not quite as light (or not as sad) Quote
everydayxangels Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 How did you like Scandal of the Season? It was one of my 2007 books, and I thought it was enjoyable - nothing incredible. Everyone kept telling me historical fiction was incredible, and this one was the first one I've read and I don't think it gave me any reason to try another. Quote
Angel Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 I quite enjoyed the Scandal of the Season. Although it is Historical Fiction please please don't let it put you off. This is so light weight for this genre that I almost don't classify it as such - it is such a poor example and really lets this area down. If you want to try HF try something like Jean Plaidy, CJ Sansom, Philippa Gregory, Alison Weir, Susanna Gregory, Michael Jecks or Jeanne Kalogridis. Quote
Louiseog Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Bad HF is awful, other good ones are Elizabeth Chadwick and some Tracy Chevalier. Quote
Angel Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 Louise - those are 2 other good suggestions Finished After Ever After. Really quite enjoyed this one - a nice light read. Quote
Angel Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 Now reading Jilly Cooper - Wicked. Quote
Angel Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Halfway through this mighty tome - and I'm loving it! I just can't put it down Quote
Angel Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 Finished Wicked. Really enjoyed this one, a perfect balance of tears, laughter and dare I say naughty scenes. I think I will be reading more of Jilly Cooper - highly recommended Quote
Louiseog Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Jily Cooper is great, I love the way that the characters are related within and across books. Pandora is good. Quote
Angel Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 I might get Pandora from the library soon Now reading Jane Harris - The Observations Quote
