Help with finding book title needed!

Hi all

 

I need some help finding a title of a book. My friend had this favourite book when she was young but cannot remember the title.

 

The story was about a girl and her family who moved away from her abusive father to a small hamlet by the sea, possibly in wales. The story is about her life there.

 

The title may have the word 'sea' in it. The book would probably been written in the 80's also.

 

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I read a similar book last year where a father, son and daughter moved to an island after their mother was brutally murdered, then the father turned abusive and the rest told the children's story.
