Are 'Wizard of Oz' sequels worth it?

I have read only the original book and the ending seemed too fulfilling to me

(Dorothy losing her shoes, thus cutting off all connection with the Land of Oz when she had grown as a person due to her adventures there)

for any sequels to be a good idea.
