handshedown Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Hi everyone! I’m new to the forum and a huge bookworm. I’m a big fan of non-fiction and the classics, but I’m currently reading “The Luminaries” at the moment. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to some book-related discussions on here! handshedown Quote
Hayley Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Hi, welcome to the forum! I really want to read 'The Luminaries', are you enjoying it so far? What are your favourite classics? Quote
handshedown Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 Thanks, Hayley! I'm really enjoying it. It took me a long while to get a handle on the plot (there are a lot of characters who are all intertwined in the same story) but, once I did, I really started enjoying it. I happily spent about 4 hours reading it yesterday. I think "Jane Eyre", "Tess of the d'Ubervilles" and "The Great Gatsby" are all up there. I could re-read those three forever. Quote
Madeleine Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Hi, welcome to the forum. Jane and Tess are two of my favourites too, have fun finding your way round here (there's a section on the classics). Quote
Hayley Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 I agree, all very good books @handshedown although there is a part of Tess I always hate. I won't bother to include spoiler quotes because I think all of us who've read it will know the part I mean! Quote
~Andrea~ Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Hello - a bit of a late reply from me! But welcome anyway Quote
