The Library Nook Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 It's nearly that time of year where people look back at the books they have read this year and decide on their favourites. Has anyone started doing this yet? A bit early I know but I always find it so difficult! Quote
Kell Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 We actually run a "Book of the Year" poll with several categories each year. In order that December's books can be included, we do the whole thing in January, so I hope everyone's been keeping a note of their favourite (and least favourite!) books this year! Quote
The Library Nook Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 lol thought you might! I just wondered if I was the only one to start thinking about it yet:) Quote
Janet Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I hope everyone's been keeping a note of their favourite (and least favourite!) books this year! Oh yes definitely. I always enjoy the voting season! Quote
Adam Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have started my thinking. There have been a few favorites this year Quote
Kylie Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I'm glad that's a plural 'books' because I'd never be able to choose just one! I've been keeping close track so I have a few in mind. I've had an excellent reading year! Quote

proserpina Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I think I know what my favourite book is this year, I think it was so good that I doubt I will read better this year. However, I have read some cracking books over 2007 that will definitely be worth a mention. Quote
The Library Nook Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 Ooh I am curious as to what it it is lol! Quote
Freewheeling Andy Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 As always, I rarely read books that were published this year, so my "book of the year" is inevitably unlikely to be anyone else's. Quote
jenmck Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Oh, I'm thinking about this. I have to narrow it down to two or three. The thing is they're nothing alike!!!! One is a mystery set in 1892 and another is a futuristic romance. *shakes head* I'm going to have a tough time narrowing the field. Quote
Nici Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have my 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourite books this year! Quote
~Andrea~ Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have a shortlist of two. I'm not sure I could pick a winner though. Quote
Kell Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have my 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourite books this year! I have a shortlist of two. I'm not sure I could pick a winner though. But there are still almost two whole months of the year left! What if you read the most amazing book you've ever read in the next week or so? You'd have to re-evaluate your choices. Quote
The Library Nook Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 lol very true Kell! That's what I love about reading, you never know what gems are around the corner. Quote
Kell Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but I think you're asking if it's just for books that were first published this year? If that's the question, the answer is no - we do have a category for best newly-published book, but it's for books that you've READ over the course of the year, no matter what year they were first published. The categories for the 2007 awards will be posted at the beginning of January with a thread for each one where members can nominate the books, then the most popular will be chosen for the poll and voting begins. At the end of voting, the winners are announced. Quote
Nici Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Kell, I think my three books would take some beating! However you are right and I have some great reads on my bookshelf! Quote
