Mongoose
Hi, I'm in the second week of the Scribd "trial" membership. Prior to joining, I made a hand-written copy of my audible wish list and ascertained that about 26 varied audiobook titles from it, were readily available (as audiobooks) on Scribd. A few days later, I subscribed to scribd, with the intent of re-locating those "found" titles and putting them into the scribd provided "list." They are all gone, no longer listed in Scribd. The Scribd FAQ makes a brief and vague warning that authors may remove their listings from time to time. However my entire list* with varied subjects and all different authors, vanished at about the same time. Subsequent searches for for similiar audiobooks (in my effort to justify joining Scribd), resulted in mostly audiobooks authored by L. Ron Hubbard. And so, if anyone knows what happened and why it happened, at Scribd, I'll much appreciate. Thanks much.
Hayley
That is strange. I’ve never used Scribd but I haven’t heard good things about it. It sounds like they might have been displaying books that weren’t actually available, which is why they stopped showing up once you signed up. They’re well known for making it difficult for members to unsubscribe too so make sure they don’t charge you at the end of your free subscription!
