chesilbeach
For the first year since 1995, the number of independent bookshops in the UK rose in 2017, albeit by only one. Interesting article on the Guardian website: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/dec/25/were-here-for-the-long-haul-are-independent-bookshops-finally-back-on-the-rise I'm definitely trying to buy more books from independent bookshops instead of Amazon, but I have to say that Waterstones is probably where most of my books are bought at the moment. Although I still read on Kindle, I think I'm about 50/50 between physical books and e-books, but I have increased my purchases through my local indie, but Waterstones tends to be more tempting because of the discounts/offers, reward points and stamp cards, so I do have to think of my purse too. Madeleine
I saw this too, good news! unfortunately there aren't any indie book shops in my local shopping areas, so it's either Waterstone's, Smith's or the supermarket, and online.
