kitty_kitty Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I get called Madame DeFarge as i the wrong person to cross and i can sit there innocently knitting whilst plotting my revenge or having my cogs of schemeing whirring around in my brian. Of course i think i they are wrong i am all sweetness and light Quote
~Andrea~ Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I got called Rip Van Winkle once, (a few years ago in my early twenties) because I used to sleep all day and stay up all night Not these days of course. Now I'm much more sensible Quote
jenmck Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 My Shakespeare teacher in High School made me read Katherine's part in "Taming Of The Shrew" because he said I was "perfect" for it. I'm still not sure if he was giving me a compliment. I've chosen to believe he was. Quote
Kylie Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 The only character I've ever been likened to was a girl named Marina in a book called So Much To Tell You by John Marsden. The book is a diary written by Marina, who never speaks to anyone. In high school, at the time we read this book, I rarely spoke to anyone apart from my friends so a few girls called me Marina Oh, poor Kitty! Madam DeFarge is one of the worst characters I've ever come across in literature! I'm sure you're nothing like her Quote
Kell Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Ford Prefect - I always know where my towel is! Quote
Oblomov Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 My wife and several friends have compared me with Captain Yossarian of Catch 22 because they think that I am always trying to get away from the present and wishing that I was somewhere else. Probably true. Quote
Icecream Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I always thought I was just like Mary Lennox for a lot of reasons (from The Secret Garden). Quote
happyanddandy Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I occasionally call my husband 'Macon' - the main character of 'The Accidental Tourist' as he has a series of systems by which he lives and he feels of out of control if they are disrupted. Among other things my husband has been known to label drawers with 'socks', 'underwear' etc in the childrens rooms to help him put away washing. Hence the name Macon!! Quote
frankie Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I don't think I've been ever told I resemble a literary character, which I guess might be seen as a good thing - but on the other hand, it might be nice to resemble a character in a novel Have you ever been told you are just like a certain character in some novel or another? Quote
Athena Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I've never been told that, either. I can't think of any characters I am like, either. I guess it would be nice, but on the other hand I like being unique . Quote
bobblybear Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 No, I haven't been told I am either, and I can't think of any that I resemble. Quote
sadya Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Our former Dutch prime minister was told by former American president he looked like Harry Potter. Not because of behaviour, but because of his looks. Not sure what to think about that. Quote
