bookmonkey Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 My supervisor at work recommended this book last night, but he couldn't remember the title. It's about a woman who is in a coma in East Germany during communism. She wakes up from the coma after reunification. But her kids are worried if they tell her she'll get a shock and go back into a coma again. So they pretend everything is still like it was before reunification. Thanks. Quote
dtrpath27 Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I have no idea what that book is, but it sounds interesting. Quote
chaliepud Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hmmmm, I saw this yesterday but can't remember where now... Will have a think, I liked the sound of it but didn't add it to my wish list as the reviews weren't great. Quote
Anna Begins Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Ya, I've heard of it too, but all info escapes me now! Quote
chaliepud Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I've had a good search and looked at my history for yesterday and can't find it anywhere! Quote
Onion Budgie Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 That sounds like Good Bye, Lenin by Wolfgang Becker. It was also made into a film. Quote
chaliepud Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I saw that when I googled today but didn't think that was it, possibly it is though. Quote
Onion Budgie Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Yes, I was a little doubtful because the book seems to be available primarily in the German language. The plot as outlined by bookmonkey is identical, though. Quote
bookmonkey Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 I'll have a look at that one Onion Budgie. Thanks for looking guys. Quote
Onion Budgie Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Was that the one, bookmonkey, or shall we keep looking? Quote
bookmonkey Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 I haven't had a chance to look at my library Onion Budgie, or to ask my workmate. I'm going to the library tomorrow I hope so I'll have a look then. Quote
sky29 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Onion, don't look any further, you are right, it's Good bye Lenin Quote
