Does anyone know this book

My supervisor at work recommended this book last night, but he couldn't remember the title.

 

It's about a woman who is in a coma in East Germany during communism.  She wakes up from the coma after reunification.  But her kids are worried if they tell her she'll get a shock and go back into a coma again. So they pretend everything is still like it was before reunification.

Hmmmm, I saw this yesterday but can't remember where now... Will have a think, I liked the sound of it but didn't add it to my wish list as the reviews weren't great.

I've had a good search and looked at my history for yesterday and can't find it anywhere!

That sounds like Good Bye, Lenin by Wolfgang Becker.  It was also made into a film.

I saw that when I googled today but didn't think that was it, possibly it is though.

Yes, I was a little doubtful because the book seems to be available primarily in the German language.  The plot as outlined by bookmonkey is identical, though.
