bobblybear Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Welcome to my book thread for 2016! Feel free to post, as I have done all my lists - with the exception of my wishlist that I'm trying to somehow import from Amazon. I don't want to type out 390 books manually. I'm going to stick with the rating system that I have used for the past couple of years, but I have changed the descriptions against each rating as the previous one is too heavily weighted to 'enjoyable books'. I felt I needed another category in between "I didn't like it" and "It was ok". 1/6: It was awful!!!2/6: It was readable, but I didn't enjoy it all that much3/6: It was ok4/6: I really liked it5/6: It was amazing - I loved it!6/6: Simply outstanding - on my 'best of all time' list As usual, I want to read about 60 books in the year. As for a limit on buying them....pfffftt!! Not gonna happen. I've also added a post - which will be a live post - of books that I mean to read within the next few months. I'm forever saying, "I'll read that one next!" and it just never happens and I just lose track. So hopefully this will give me a bit more focus on books that I really want to read immediately (as opposed to languishing on my TBR pile for 10 years). Happy reading, everyone! chaliepud Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Have a great 2016 BB, you have some great books there to read, on your shortlist The Last Letter from your Lover and The House at Riverton were particular favourites of mine so I hope you enjoy them too. I also have Eats, shoots and leaves on my shelf but for some reason have never gotten around to dipping into to it, another must do for this year! Quote
Athena Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I wish you a great reading year in 2016, BB ! Quote
Nollaig Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Wahey happy reading in 2016 Bobbly! Looking forward to stealing more reading ideas from you Quote
Michelle Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Welcome to my book thread for 2016! As for a limit on buying them....pfffftt!! Not gonna happen. I love your honesty there! I'll be the same! Quote
bobblybear Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Have a great 2016 BB, you have some great books there to read, on your shortlist The Last Letter from your Lover and The House at Riverton were particular favourites of mine so I hope you enjoy them too. I also have Eats, shoots and leaves on my shelf but for some reason have never gotten around to dipping into to it, another must do for this year! Thanks, Chaliepud. I've been planning on reading The House at Riverton for so long, even though I only bought it in 2014 (for some reason I thought I've had it on my list since 2012), so I needed to put it on my "Read it now!" list. If The Last Letter from Your Lover is anywhere as good as Me Before You (the only other JoJo Moyes book I have read), then I'll be happy! I wish you a great reading year in 2016, BB ! Thanks, Gaia! Wahey happy reading in 2016 Bobbly! Looking forward to stealing more reading ideas from you Thanks, Noll! I love your honesty there! I'll be the same! Yeah, just no point in setting limits. It just doesn't work. Well, I've finally updated my Wishlist. Typing 300-ish books out was very exhausting, so I haven't bothered with formatting them yet. It's strange going through my wishlist one by one.....there are so many on there that I have no idea what they are about or who recommended them. Quote
chaliepud Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 The Last Letter From Your Lover is a very different book to Me Before You, more involved and thought provoking, I think I rated it 4/5 and MBY 5/5. If you enjoy The Last Letter you will almost certainly like The Girl You Left Behind also. Have you read After You yet? The sequel to MBY? Quote
bobblybear Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 No, I haven't read After You yet. I'm waiting for it to come down a bit in price. I don't actually know anything about The Last Letter From Your Lover, but being thought-provoking can only be a good thing. I shall keep any eye out for The Girl You Left Behind as well. Quote
chaliepud Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 After You was very good, it didn't go in the direction I thought it would but I would highly recommend it. Quote
vodkafan Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Wow good luck bobblybear that combined kindle TBR is huge! Just picking out a couple from your shortlist, I very much enjoyed The Windup Girl and The immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, which was very poignant because true. I also have Woman On The Edge of Time, I must read that very soon! Edited December 31, 2015 by vodkafan Quote
Kylie Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Happy reading, Bobbly! Loads of great lists there. I look forward to reading your thoughts throughout the year. Quote
