Athena Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I found an infographic about books with many characters. I've read a couple of these, and a few more are unread on my shelves. I thought it'd be nice to share, but for the life of me I can't find the thread with book pictures in it (other staff, if you know where it is, feel free to tell me or to move it, I just can't find it ). woolf woolf Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 It makes sense Romance of the Three Kingdoms has so many characters, because it's about three kingdoms. Quote
Anna Begins Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I can't believe how many in Atlas Shrugged! In my memory, its only about a few characters Quote
chaliepud Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 That pic isn't helping me get around to reading The Stand! Quote
thatdifficultfirstnovel Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I'm surprised that Eye of the World has so many. I just assumed that was the whole series count. Quote
Kell Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 The Stand is one of my all-time favourite books.Another with HEAPS of characters is Maia by Richard Adams - that's a bug chunky book too. Quote
Anna Begins Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 That pic isn't helping me get around to reading The Stand! Don't let it throw you off! Quote
Hayley Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 When you see it like this it seems amazing that we remember all the characters when we're reading a book! Quote
Athena Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Hayley, definitely! Though I have to admit, on occasion I do forget who minor side-characters are . Especially if it's been a while since I came across them in the first place. Quote
emelee Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I thought the Game of Thrones books would "win". War and Peace, huh... That was many!!! Quote
frankie Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 That pic isn't helping me get around to reading The Stand! Don't let it scare you! I've read the book and loved it, and I honestly had no idea it would come up in this thread of books with helluva many characters. It didn't feel like one that featured so many people! Quote
BookShelfy91 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I have noticed that with the wheel of time series. Lots of different characters to try and remember. Game of thrones as well. Shelfy Quote
timebug Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I found both 'War and Peace' and 'The Stand' easy to read and follow, as the characters are gradually introduced, and soon settle into their 'space' in the narrative. The Stand was in fact, the first Stephen KIng book I ever read, having seen a colleague reading it, who suggested I might like it. I soon caught up with the rest of his (then) output and eagerly awaited the subsequent ones! Curiously though,I have never felt the urge to read any more Tolstoy, although I loved 'War and Peace'! Madeleine Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I'm surprised To Kill a Mockingbird has got so many characters, maybe a lot of them are fairly minor? I tend to only go by main characters, I'd have put Game of Thrones out in front as well! Quote
