frankie Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 (edited) What kinds of books do you normally like to read? Could re-reading an old favorite help you get out of the slump? I've been in a slump or two lately, and for me Louis Sachar's books have been a great help. I've read his children's book and YA books and they've been so readable and enjoyable. Maybe you could also try something a bit easier, like YA. Or maybe fast paced thrillers? Edited September 29, 2015 by frankie Quote
woolf woolf Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I don't have any specific recommendations, but perhaps short stories could be more appropriate? Quote

ian Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 My normal fall-back position in times like this is a book of Stephen KIng short stories Quote
thatdifficultfirstnovel Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 You need a quick win. When I had this issue, I read 'The Uncommon Reader' by Alan Bennett. Doesn't fit the genres you listed, but was finished in an hour and gave me a sense of momentum that I was struggling to find. Quote
Raven Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, I would suggest Rivers of London. A quick, easy and enjoyable read. Quote
Anna Begins Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 My normal fall-back position in times like this is a book of Stephen KIng short stories Being that it is October...a good way to celebrate! Carrie is pretty short. Quote
chesilbeach Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 If I get into a slump, I sometimes go back and re-read something I know I'll enjoy and am familiar with. Perhaps you could try re-reading a favourite book? Quote
