Kell Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Death on the Nile for me. Closely followed by Murder on the Orient Express. Quote
Inver Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I have to confess I have never read an Agatha. Quote
Kylie Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 From the article and comments, it's good to see a wide variety of titles being chosen...that means I have a lot to look forward to! Just based on how well known her titles are, I'd have to guess that Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile or The Murder of Roger Ackroyd will win. Or And Then There Were None. I'm not sure which one I'd choose. It's difficult because her writing and plots are so consistently wonderful! Inver, I highly recommend giving her a go. I think you'd like her books! Quote
chesilbeach Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 What I like about the website to vote, is that even though they've picked a shortlist of books they think will be the most popular, they've also given you the option to chose any of her other books too. Nothing worse than when someone asks you to pick a favourite and then give you a shortlist that doesn't include the one you want. I've only read one (And Then There Were None) and to be honest, it wasn't my cup of tea, so I haven't bothered with any more. Quote
poppyshake Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I really liked The Death of Roger Ackroyd and And Then There Were None. Will vote for one of them but which one? Quote
frankie Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) I thought I'd read maybe 4 or 5 of Agatha's novels, but turns out I've read a lot more: 18 in fact. My most favorite is And Then There Were None (Closely followed by Murder on the Orient Express.) The first Agatha Christie I ever read was A Murder Is Announced so that one also holds a very special place in my heart. I would also recommend the plays! I've read Spider's Web and The Unexpected Guest and I really enjoyed them both. Edited April 29, 2015 by frankie Quote
Athena Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I've only read Murder on the Orient Express so far, but I plan to read more of her works . I own some that I haven't read yet, and I just borrowed an omnibus from the library as well (we'll see if I get around to reading all the books in it though, probably not.). Quote
chesilbeach Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 In other celebrations for the 125th anniversary …. Agatha Christie festival to host cookery demonstration with poisonous twist Quote
Kylie Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Wouldn't it be weird if someone did actually get poisoned? Quote
chesilbeach Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 And the winner is …And Then There Were None declared world's favourite Agatha Christie novel Quote
Athena Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I've definitely got to read that one then ! Quote
More reading time required Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 That is probably one of my favourites too. I first read it back when I was a teenager borrowing books from the library. It had a very different book title back then though, which is now deemed offensive! Quote
frankie Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I'm not all too surprised! That's a bloody good one!! Quote
Janet Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I missed this thread when it was originally posted somehow - but I'd have picked And Then There Were None for first place (I've recently listened to an AWESOME audio version), closely followed by The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Quote
mirandashell Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I'd have picked that one as well. And then Curtain. Which I loved the first time I read it. Quote
